…and some rats. This week we’re heading to turn-of-the-century New York City, with an immigrant tale by Jarom Loch. This month, the Death by Footnote guys take on a two-pronged prompt: inventions of the Industrial Revolution and, in honor of October, the horror genre. Jarom’s story has some spooky elements, but we’ll leave to you whether or not it was downright horror.

A young immigrant girl who works rolling cigars for her family is sent to deliver her family’s rat trap to the rat man. But along the way, she meets a boy with a peculiar secret. One that involves rats accomplishing incredible things.
